MARC Format for Holdings Data

This course provides the basic principles of creating local holdings records in Connexion. The course will provide students with an understanding of the holdings formats and related content standards. During the webinar, exercises on creating formatted and free–text holdings in the OCLC Connexion Browser interface will be completed.

In this webinar you will learn about:

  • MARC 21 Format for Holdings Data (MFHD)
  • Implementation of the ANSI Standard (ANSI/NISO Z39.71 – 1999)
  • Features of the Connexion Browser designed to streamline creation of Local Holdings records

Please Note:This will be an online demonstration, not a hands–on training class. All that is needed to attend is a computer with Internet access with a nearby phone for audio access. This presentation will run for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes, and will include short exercises to be completed during the webinar.

Who Should Attend:Those interested in learning about the MARC Format for Holdings Data standard, and Local Holdings Maintenance in the OCLC Connexion Browser.

Prerequisite:Basic knowledge of MARC.
