Blackwell Book Service Joins WorldCat Selection Vendors

Blackwell Book Service has become the latest WorldCat Selection vendor. According to the OCLC web site, “Blackwell aims to help libraries keep the costs of identifying and acquiring books and e-books as low as possible. Their tools, services, customer relationships, and partnerships are all built to create efficient workflows for libraries in the belief that the costs of acquiring books, if inefficient, can be greater than the costs of the books themselves. Ultimately, efficient acquisition enables libraries to make available to their patrons a larger part of the universe of scholarly information that could prove useful to them.” Blackwell has offices in the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and the United States.

The Blackwell Book Service web site is at http://www.blackwell.com. To see a complete list of WorldCat Selection vendors, both currently active and forthcoming, go to http://www.oclc.org/selection/partners/default.htm.
