FirstSearch Administrative Module Gets a New Name

The FirstSearch Administrative Module is now known as the WorldCat Services Administrative Module.

Electronic Serial ISSN Search Link Added to Admin Module

Just as the Admin Module can be set up to prompt OPACs to conduct ISBN and ISSN searches, it can now be set up to prompt your library's Web-based catalog to conduct searches for e-serials. Libraries with specific e-serials catalogs, databases, or lists can elect to link their patron searches directly to those e-serials resources. FirstSearch adds the e-Serial ISSN (including the hyphen) from the FirstSearch record to the URL you supply. Users who click the link see the results of the search for that eserial ISSN. To set this up, log on to the Admin Module at http://firstsearch.oclc.org/admin. Click the "Linking" tab then click "Web Library Catalogs."

Scroll to the "Library Catalog Search" section of the screen and enter the e-ISSN search syntax for your online catalog. To see samples of search syntaxes, see page two of http://www.oclc.org/worldcat/open/deeplinking/openworldcat_deeplinking.pdf.
