  • Windows client for reserve desk staff to manage the entire life cycle of a reserve item
  • Web-based administration suite to manage all system configurations and Ares staff accounts
  • System Manager service that performs routine system maintenance such as updating copyright permissions and cleaning up reserve items
  • Web-based reporting module to have an administrative view of how your reserves desk is performing

To order Ares for your library, please complete the < href="http://nylink.org/reference/forms/AresOrder.pdf">Ares order form and subscriber agreement, and submit it to Nylink via fax at 518-432-4346, or email at services[at]nylink.org.

Features

  • Customizable Web Pages: the Ares Web pages use a template-based system allowing Libraries to markup the standard HTML web pages based on needs or university branding.
  • OpenURL: allows teaching faculty to submit requests for electronic reserve materials via the library's local catalog.
  • Z39.50: built-in Z39.50 interface makes searching for library owned material easier. Reserve desk staff can easily search the catalog, import shelving location and call number information and then print pull slips to retrieve materials.
  • Copyright Clearance: staff can make notations if copyright is required or if copyright has already been obtained; also, Atlas Systems has partnered with the Copyright Clearance Center to enable libraries to more easily secure copyright permissions.
  • Email alerts and RSS feeds are available to users.
  • Ares allows for any type of file format to be added into the system, from Microsoft Office documents to mp3 files. Library staff has ultimate control over which type of files allowed on their system.
  • TWAIN compliant: After finding material, library staff can scan directly into Ares using any TWAIN compliant scanner. All Ares initiated scans are converted into Adobe Acrobat PDF files.
