Mary Edgerton

Collections & Technical Services Librarian

Mary Edgerton is part of the Nylink Member Programs team and has been a member of the Nylink staff since 1985. She provides support and training on products and services in the Collections and Technical Services area including providing support on Conversion Services, the OCLC Enhance program, Government Documents cataloging and WorldCat Collections Sets. She is responsible for supporting libraries’ cataloging efforts in a variety of ways including providing support for MARC formats and the OCLC Connexion Browser. She is also responsible for membership profiling.

Mary provides support on Local holdings including the MARC Format for Holdings Data (MFHD) and for support and training on the OCLC Local Holdings Maintenance Service.

Mary’s long service to Nylink and its member libraries includes supporting libraries through several migrations of OCLC systems and other technological challenges libraries have had to address.

Mary’s background and experience is in cataloging and brings to Nylink a history of experience in technical services departments in colleges throughout New York State.

Prior to joining the Nylink staff, Mary held jobs as Cataloging Librarian at three institutions in New York State: Tompkins, Cortland Community College, Southampton College of Long Island University, and SUNY College at Purchase. Mary received her MLS from Western Michigan University and a BA from the College of Wooster where she majored in European history and philosophy.

Mary’s hobbies and passions, (besides libraries), include gardening, cats and politics.
